Davide Campagna, MD, is Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Catania, Italy, and an Emergency Room Physician at the Policlinico “G. Rodolico – San Marco” University Hospital. His research focuses on tobacco harm reduction, smoking cessation, and the clinical impact of combustible and non-combustible nicotine products, with particular interest in cardiovascular, metabolic, and respiratory health. Since 2010, he has been involved in clinical and translational research on electronic cigarettes and other alternative nicotine products, including randomized controlled trials and prospective clinical studies. He is Principal Investigator for the Italian centres of the international DiaSmoke trial, investigating the effects of switching from combustible cigarettes to combustion-free nicotine delivery systems in people with type 2 diabetes who smoke, and serves on its International Scientific Advisory Board. His clinical and research activity bridges Internal and Emergency Medicine with tobacco harm reduction, with a particular focus on translating scientific
evidence into clinically relevant strategies for risk reduction.
